NewsBioWare Looking to Improve Star Wars The Old Republic Maintenance Timing
As of 12:33PM CST, all servers for Star Wars: The Old Republic were playable again. But that doesn't help the anger caused when users missed out on precious play time thanks to the holidays couldn't log into the servers for several hours.
BioWare extended today's Star Wars: The Old Republic maintenance, much to the surprise of many players looking to spend their vacation playing the newly released MMO. On top of that, there was no ETA for when the servers would be up. Needless to say, fans were not pleased. Some users in Europe could not log in to the game for over 7 hours.
Maintenance is obviously expected with MMOs, but the timing with this could not have been worse. Coming fresh off of a holiday weekend, many players have additional days off and voiced their anger at wanting to spend it playing the game they love. Luckily, BioWare recognizes their mistake and addressed the maintenance, promising improved timing of SWTOR maintenance.
BioWare's senior community coordinator addressed the issue today, stating:
"We understand that many of you are home for the holidays, and that this maintenance extension interrupted your expected play time – especially for our players in Europe. In the future, we’ll be looking at ways to improve the timing of our maintenance periods, and we will definitely work to ensure that our maintenance estimates are as accurate as possible."
BioWare is relatively new to the MMORPG genre, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
