X-Men Origins Pirate Gets Year in Prison

Posted by: Vito Gesualdi

When I first caught wind of the negative reviews for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I was kind of surprised. After all, how do you screw up an hour and a half of Sniktbub? When I eventually made time to Netflix the movie, I found the answer rather quickly, wondering why a super-secret science facility at the heart of Three Mile Island, one housing a dozen or so highly-powered child mutants as prisoners, would be staffed by roughly five guards total.

Point is, that movie was a crime. Which is why I don't understand how the man responsible for leaking it onto the web is getting prison time, while director Gavin Hood goes on to direct Ender's Game without even a misdemeanor charge for wasting my time.

Gilberto Sanchez, 49, of The Bronx, will serve a year in prison for leaking a workprint copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As a workprint, the unfinished movie still had scenes with the actors hanging from wires and many un-finished greenscreen effects.

So not only did he leak an awful movie, but he leaked a bad version of an awful movie? I think the only damages here were to the people who made the choice to watch such an abomination.
