Electronic Arts is looking to bring their futuristic first person shooter Syndicate to just about every country that knows how to hold a controller. All of them that is, except for Austrailia, who as we reported early today, refused to classify the game due to its depictions of dismemberment and decapitation. Austrailia is well known for their strict game rating policy, and though an 18+ rating is being considered, games which fall outside the guidelines of the 15+ category cannot be sold.

In the past, many game developers have effectively neutered their own games, removing violent and sexual content to appease the ratings board. Though EA Australia says that they refuse to subject their game to such "arcane censorship" in this modern age, especially since similarly bloody games and novels do not face such strict opposition from the aussies.

EA Australia wrote in a recent statement: “We urge policy makers to take swift action to implement an updated policy that reflects today’s market and gives its millions of adult consumers the right to make their own content choices.”

Syndicate arrives on non-Australian PCs, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in February.
