Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PlayStation Vita has been reported as being "longer" than the PS3 counterpart, Uncharted 3.  When speaking to NowGamer, SCE Bend writer and game director John Garvin stated that Golden Abyss is a game that is over 10 hours long.

In comparison, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception took gamers roughly 8-9 hours to complete the game, depending on the difficulty it was played on.  Play time, of course, varies from player to player, so it's not 100% certain if Uncharted: Golden Abyss is in fact longer than Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.  It's still hard to complain about a handheld game that features over two hours of cinematics in a game that's 10-plus hours long.

About the challenges he faced when bringing the popular console-based Uncharted game to the handheld PS Vita, Garvin said: "We tried to focus on the kinds of things that read well on a 5-inch screen versus a 50-inch screen Story for example: we have over two hours of cinematics in a game that is 10+hours long, so story is very important to us, just like it is on the [PS3] console."

Of course, it remains to be seen if the Uncharted experience will change when played on a handheld device.  Garvin doesn't think so.

"A driving narrative that makes you care what happens next, that compels you to get to the next chapter... that kind of experience is possible no matter what kind of platform you are on. I’m sure all Vita developers would tell you that we’re just scratching the surface of what this device can do.  I’m really excited for what we’re going to see in the next few years," Garvin added.
