NewsNetherRealm Working on Mortal Kombat and "Different Project"
Yesterday, GameSpot reported that NeathRealm was taking a break from the Mortal Kombat franchise. According to them, studio head Ed Boon confirmed the hiatus while the team works on a "different project".
As it turns out, that rumor was false. Ed Boon dismissed the hiatus rumors on Twitter, announcing, "No. NetherRealm is working on MK and non-MK games!"
Given the interest in Mortal Kombat raised from the latest game, it would be business suicide to take a break from the franchise right now.
As for the "non-MK games", Boon didn't go into detail as for what those could be. Earlier this week, NetherRealm announced that it had released Batman: Arkham City Lockdown for iOS devices, so we could assume their next projects are mobile-related.
