NewsBattlefield 3 Back to Karkand DLC Now Available for PS3
Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand DLC became available for PS3 users today, one week earlier than Xbox 360 and PC. The first expansion for Battlefield 3 includes four Battlefield 2 maps that have been revamped with the new Frostbite 2 technology, ten weapons, four vehicles, and five Achievements/Trophies.
In celebration of the release for PS3, DICE has released a new action-packed Back to Karkand trailer which focuses on Wake Island gameplay. Wake Island, is one of the four maps remade with the Frostibe 2 engine.
While PlayStation 3 users have early access to this DLC, it is scheduled to release on Xbox 360 and PC on December 13th. Despite, the PC version not receiving the expansion yet, they did receive a large patch today that actually contained the content for Back to Karkand. The difference in release dates is due to an exclusivity agreement between Sony and EA, and also has something to do with a botched handling of the game's release which promised users a copy of Battlefield 1943 in their pre-order and never delivered.
The patch is not without bugs however. Kotaku is reporting some minor issues with the patch, acknowledged by EA.
"Please use the Quick Match filter settings to pick the Back to Karkand map and mode you want to play. Going through the server browser right now will match you up with base game maps only. We are hard at work isolating and fixing this issue and will have an ETA on this later. Stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, using Quick Match will let you select and play on any map, from the base game or Back to Karkand."
Back to Karkand is free to everyone who purchased the Limited Edition version of Battlefield 3.
