Modern Warfare 3 Launch Causing Registration Difficulties for Call of Duty Elite
If you were waiting for the launch of Modern Warfare 3 today to sign up for Call of Duty Elite service, you may be experience difficulties.
According to the official Call of Duty Elite status page, "Registration requests for our new live service Call of Duty Elite are exceeding even our most optimistic expectations, which is creating a bottleneck and some players have not been able to register."
Activision did confirm that they "have already registered hundreds of thousands of players and we are working around the clock to increase our capacity as quickly as possible."
In an attempt to calm MW3 players' fears, both the Elite Twitter account and status page assured users that their stats would be logged during this period of downtime.
"Please be assured your gameplay data is safe and that whenever you successfully register for Call of Duty Elite, all of your data will be waiting for you. So enjoy the game, start ranking up and we assure you we are working around the clock to accommodate every player who wants to be a part of Call of Duty Elite as quickly as possible."
On one hand, this is good for Activision who probably didn't expect such a surge in subscribers, but on the other they are also depending on the Call of Duty Elite service to really keep players' interest in the game. With that being said, I would bet they have this problem fixed quickly. Elite is far too important to fail.
