Only 17% of Battlefield 3 Players Have Completed the Campaign

When you think of Battlefield 3 what comes to mind?  Captivating story filled with action and adventure or large scale multiplayer warfare on giant maps, big a** explosions, jets, and massive destruction.  If you're familiar with the Battlefield series the latter probably sounds more appealing.  Which could explain the low number of players who complete the single-player campaign in Battlefield 3.

According to popular gaming website Raptr.com, only 17.43% of gamers who have played Battlefield 3 and choose to have their achievements tracked have completed the single-player campaign.  That means of the 73,160 Battlefield 3 followers on the site, only about 12,751 players have completed the campaign.  

Battlefield 3 released a little over a week ago so it is possible that many BF3 just haven't gotten around to beating it.  Though it's probable that many either skipped the campaign completely and went straight into multiplayer or they began the single-player campaign and just got bored with it.

Battlefield 3 reviews have largely agreed that the campaign is dull, repetitive, and linear which could explain why a player might lack the drive to finish campaign. 

Now Battlefield has never really been known for it's single-player campaign, but critics have been quick to point out the flaws of the single-player campaign and even dismiss it as "completely unnecessary".  Even DICE themselves have admitted that they consider "Battlefield an online service" though they consider the single player experience just as important. 

"It's a great way to get fans into the experience, have htem train up and ge tready for multiplayer.  And a lot of fans just enjoy having that single player experience.  So I think you have to have both," explained EA exect Frank Gibeau.

"Remember as well that single player is often how new players ramp into the game.  It's a way for new players to get exposed to a franchise," added CEO John Riccitello.

The developers have made it clear Battlefield 3 was never meant to be focused heavily on the single-player campaign story.  Instead, they used it as a way to introduce newer Battlefield players to the game.
