NewsAll Future Battlefield 3 Expansions Available Early to PS3 Customers
PlayStation 3 gamers were shocked to find Battlefield 1943 was missing from inside their PS3 copies of Battlefield 3. Customers were intended to get t he console-exclusive shooter with the purchase of BF3. It appears as if EA and Sony have decided to go the "early DLC" route to make up for this small mishap in packaging.
When a sad PS3 fan asked on the official Battlefield 3 twitter account where his free Battlefield 1943 was, Battlefield representatives responded, "In lieu of 1943 being available on disk for PS3 customers, EA has made all BF3 expansions available early to PS3 customers."
So Sony is making up for missing copies of Battlefield 1943 by offering DLC a mere one-week earlier? How about they include them with the game instead. Time exclusives are nothing new to the industry, as Battlefield 3's counterpart Call of Duty has had a long outstanding agreement with Xbxo 360 to have time exclusives on their DLC. Now, PS3 users will be able to purchase their DLC and map-packs one-week earlier.
Does that make up for a free copy of Battlefield 1943? I don't think so.
