BlizzCon has just begun and we've already received a boat load of information.  Closing the opening ceremony of BlizzCon was the trailer revealing the brand new expansion for World of Warcraft, "Mists of Pandaria".

Mists of Pandaria was rumored to be an upcoming expansion to World of Warcraft, but today it was officially revealed and confirmed.

A lot of new information was teased in the trailer for the expansion including a new race, new class, new continent, and another new talent system.

The new expansion was described as "all about war and PvP focusing on Horde vs Alliance."  The trailer showed "a land 10,000 years lost.  A mystery shrouded by superstition.  A land of forgotten power and ancient magics."

This land teased in the trailer was none other htan the new continent, Pandaria, home of the new panda inspired race, Pandaren.  Yes, it was very much like a scene from Kung Fu Panda, very asian-inspired mixed with kung fu.  The Pandaren were describedas "a people that may well change the fate of us all."  Blizzard is playing off of the new race and land of power and magics, and introducing a new class -- The Monk.  The abilities or talents of this class weren't revealed, though.

Vice President of Creative Development at Blizzard, Chris Metzen revealed afterwards that the Pandaren were going to be an Alliance race in Burning Crusade, but they changed their minds.  The Pandaren will be playable by both Alliance and Horde, the first time they've ever tried that with a single race.  Fans can make a choice as to which side they'll join a little after the opening quests.

The new Mists of Pandaria expansion increases the level cap to 90, adds new challenge mode dungeons, more PvE scenarios, a pet battle system, and of course a revamped talent system.  The trailer didn't go into any detail about these, but the tease is enough for now.

Judging from the Mists of Pandaria being playable at BlizzCon, the expansion shouldn't be too far off.  It was revealed that it wouldn't come before the Diablo III launch, however.
