Notch: Minecraft Surprise "Successfully Deployed", New Dragon Model Revealed

As if the Minecraft 1.9 pre-release version 3 last week wasn't enough to keep players busy this week, Notch has already added something else for players to do.  Version 3, released last week, introduced baby animals, item enchantments, a simplified potion brewing system, and new items.  But that wasn't enough for Markus "Notch" Perrson.

"Deploying surprise in..3.. 2.. 1.."

Let the search begin.  Notch confirmed that a "surprise was successfully deployed" in Minecraft today.  In typical Notch fashion, he revealed just enough to get us wondering, and nothing else.  "It's a secret surprise, though. :D," Notch tweeted shortly after.  Looks like if you want some details you're going to have to find it for yourself.

This surprise is as much a mystery to me as anyone else.  There are a few things it could be.  Last week, Notch revealed he was working on something "epic".  He then revealed the screenshot below.

From that screenshot it's hard to know exactly what Notch was working on.  It was assumed some type of invisibility potion, but that has yet to be confirmed (and pretty much ruled out at this point).  If you look closely though, beneath the surface you can see some type of black portal or "goo", as Notch referred to it last week when tweeting a player's YouTube video exploring the black "goo".  Perhaps these goo portals are the secret surprise?  It'd be interesting, but I think something like that would get a little more recognition.

Besides, I have a feeling that "epic something" was the new Minecraft Dragon mob which Notch revealed late last week.  But seeing as how he's still modeling and texturing it, I don't think it's been added yet.  You can check out the newly released dragon model below with larger wings.  Not to mention, Notch confirmed that he will be animating the dragon tomorrow.

So as usual, I am lost in the World of Notch's Minecraft updates.  What surprise he could have added is beyond me.  My gut feeling tells me it has something to do with the black goo portals.  Be sure to check back today if we find anything else out.

Or better yet, if you have any hunch as to what it could be, or if you know what it is, feel free to share it below!
