Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
Announces New Sponsor Activision
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
announced today that Activision, Inc. has signed on as a new sponsor, supporting
the museum’s efforts to collect, preserve and interpret the global impact of
rock and roll music.
Activision will sponsor the Cleveland rock
museum’s exhibit on some of rock’s most legendary guitarists, which includes
artifacts from Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Jerry Garcia, Robbie Robertson and
others. In addition, Activision will be an official sponsor of the 2008 Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be held on March 10 in New York City at
the Waldorf Astoria.
Visitors to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will
also be able to rock out to some of their favorite hits while at the Museum in
Cleveland. Activision will have a Guitar Hero demo stand for fans to test drive
the latest and greatest game for free, beginning with Guitar Hero III: Legends
of Rock.
“We’re incredibly excited about this
partnership,” said Steve Dobo, Director of Sponsorships for the Rock Hall.
“Activision’s support not only helps us tell the guitar chapter of the rock and
roll story, but it also gives our visitors a chance to step onto the virtual
stage and kick out some jams while they’re here.”
“Where there’s music, there’s Guitar Hero, and
there are countless Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees who’ve appeared in
Guitar Hero” said Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing for Activision/RedOctane. “We
are absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to offer visitors a chance to live
out their fantasies by playing tracks from the artists they are paying homage
to.”
Each year visitors from 50 states and 100
countries visit the Rock Hall. Since opening its doors to the world in 1995,
nearly seven million people have made the pilgrimage to the world’s only Museum
devoted to celebrating and preserving the history of rock and roll music.
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock offers the
ultimate rock experience with new wireless guitars, freshly added content and
features including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss
battles, a host of exclusive unlockable content and visually stunning rock
venues. Expanded online multiplayer modes allow axe-shredders worldwide to
compete head-to-head for true rock status as they riff through a star-studded
soundtrack including master tracks by legendary artists such as Aerosmith, Guns
‘N’ Roses, The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine and Pearl
Jam, as well as original songs by guitar icons Slash and Tom Morello. Guitar
Hero III: Legends of Rock is now available and is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB.
