PopCap, Make-A-Wish Team to Grant 9-Year Old’s Wish

Owain Weinert is a nine-year old boy who unfortunately suffers from leukemia. He enrolled in the Make-A-Wish program with one hope: to design his very own video game. The folks over at PopCap Games have decided to help make his wish a reality by teaming up with the foundation.

Titled Allied Star Police, Weinert’s concept is based on real-time strategy gameplay. PopCap will work on releasing the game for iOS platforms within the next few months. All proceeds go straight to Make-A-Wish.

It’s good to see a popular developer such as PopCap stepping up to help a young kid realize his dream. It’s the type of story that tugs at your heartstrings and makes a real difference in someone’s life. The game looks like a good deal of fun, and people looking for something to play on their iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices should definitely check it out.

It’s cool that Owain Weinert, who probably woke up every morning thinking about his illness, got the opportunity to wake up and say, “Hey, I helped design a game!” Here’s hoping this isn’t the only game he thinks up. Allied Star Police is going to need a sequel down the line.
