Kuma\War Announces Winning “Story From The Front”
American Soldiers’ Real-life Heroics To Be
Re-Created As Video Game
New York (Dec. 21, 2004) –
Kuma Reality Games, the company that blends news coverage with interactive game
technology to allow players to experience re-creations of real military events,
has announced the winner from its ‘Stories from the Front’ contest. Many
soldiers submitted true stories of heroism and intense battles but when the
votes were tallied on the Kuma\War website, it was the heroic tale
of James Ross, Sergeant Major, Task Force 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense
Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division that was chosen to be a
playable Kuma\War mission.
The mission entitled, ‘Baghdad Convoy’ will feature Ross and comrades as 3D
game characters and in the video news show, which accompanies every Kuma\War
episode. The mission will re-create actual events that occurred in April 2004
in Baghdad, Iraq, as Ross and his patrol encountered three harrowing ambushes
and succeeded in rescuing a Fallujah supply convoy under attack. Members of
Ross’ patrol received Army Commendation Medals for Valor for their actions that
day.
"I was very surprised and shocked when I found out my story had won the ‘Stories
from the Front’ contest,” said James Ross. “I really owe it all to my friend
Brian for submitting my story to Kuma and I'm happy to be able to share my
experience with the general public so that they may have a better understanding
of the rigors of combat."
James Ross is currently on active duty, stationed in Iraq, and friend Brian
McCleary submitted his story to the Kuma\War “Stories from the Front” contest.
Brian will also be included in the playable mission as an embedded reporter.
The Baghdad Convoy mission is currently under development and is expected to be
available to consumers in February.
