EARTH & BEYOND DECEMBER UPDATE TO FEATURE TEAM-BASED "PLAYER VS. PLAYER"

LAS VEGAS, NV (Dec. 18, 2002) - Westwood Studios(tm) announced today that the December update to Earth & Beyond(tm) will feature a unique team-based player versus player mode and a host of other additions designed to empower the players.  Earth & Beyond is an online role-playing galaxy that is published by Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) under the EA GAMES(tm) brand. 

As part of the company's commitment to continuously update Earth & Beyond, Westwood plans to add features, enhancements and content to the game on a monthly basis.  This month's update includes a team-based player versus player mode, the ability for players to change the color of their starship and avatar, and a chance for players to become in-game reporters.  All of these additions are designed to give the players even more control over their game experience.

The specific enhancements include:

• A team-based "Player versus Player" mode in the style of gladiator-like games.

• The ability for players to change the colors of their in-game starships and avatar clothing.

• Content for an in-game winter holiday event

• New content and missions that will give players the opportunity to become in-game reporters.
