Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Project 8 and RedOctane’s Guitar Hero II Awarded at VGAs

Activision, Inc. announced today that Tony Hawk’s Project 8™ and RedOctane’s Guitar Hero II™ were honored at the Spike TV 2006 Video Game Awards show, held on Friday night at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center in Los Angeles. Tony Hawk’s Project 8 won the “Best Individual Sports Game” award and Guitar Hero II earned “Best Soundtrack” honors.

“We’re thrilled that Tony Hawk’s Project 8 and Guitar Hero II won VGAs,” said Will Kassoy, senior vice president of global brand management. “The development teams at Neversoft and Harmonix are committed to developing innovative and entertaining video games and this acknowledgement from the fans is a testament to all of their hard work.”

RedOctane’s president and co-founder, Kai Huang added, “The Guitar Hero games are designed to inspire people to channel their inner rock star, so it is extremely rewarding to know that the fans appreciated the rock anthems that we chose for Guitar Hero II and have acknowledged our efforts with Spike TV’s ‘Best Soundtrack’ award.”

The fourth annual Spike TV 2006 Video Game Awards, hosted by Samuel L. Jackson will premiere tonight (December 13) at 10:00 PM ET/PT on Spike TV.
