EON DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT SHIPS AIRFIX DOGFIGHTER FOR PC
New Publisher EON Digital Entertainment Takes to the Skies with Its Debut Title for the U.S.
LONDON, England, December 13, 2000 – EON Digital Entertainment, a progressive new publishing operation, announced today that it began shipping Airfix Dogfighter. The action/flight combat game is designed for the PC-CDROM platform and is currently available at retailers nationwide at an SRP of $29.99. Airfix Dogfighter presents gamers with the scenario of “What would happen if the plastic model planes in your room came to life?” The answer, simply put, is chaos.
Airfix Dogfighter offers players a chance to fly stunning, model replications of some of the classic fighter planes and bombers of World War II. Gamers can opt to play as either the Axis or Allies as they take to the skies in a series of missions to destroy the opposition. The game’s 20 missions range from bombing raids behind enemy lines to intense aerial dogfights, all of which take place in or around a typical suburban home (sans the occupants). The missions vary in difficulty and, while the gameplay is designed to prove challenging for the more experienced PC game enthusiasts, it is also designed to be fun and simple to learn for the casual gamer.
“Many of us grew up building and playing with Airfix model planes and we would always bring them to life in our minds as we played” said John Burns, President of EON Digital Entertainment. “Airfix Dogfighter lets gamers take that fantasy one step further as it puts them in the cockpit and allows them to actually fly in some of these classic war planes.”
The game offers many additional features, including fully customizable planes that can be tailored to fit the player’s personal taste and a level designer that allows complete design and creation of playable levels. There are also multiplayer capabilities that enable up to eight players to compete via LAN or Internet connection.
Airfix Dogfighter represents EON Digital Entertainment’s entrance into the U.S. gaming arena. The company plans to ship two more PC titles this year and has already announced its first title for 2001 with a full slate to follow later in the year.
