ENEMY AI DETAILS REVEALED FOR
AQUANOX
2: REVELATION
Vancouver, WA – Friday 6th December 2002 JoWooD Productions is proud to
announce the official details of AquaNox 2: Revelation’s Artificial
Intelligence, which is being employed in their anticipated underwater action
game.
Significant time has been invested in creating the excellent enemy AI within
AquaNox 2: Revelation. The main goal of AquaNox’s AI was to make enemy
vehicles behave as human-like as possible. With the ability to ambush players,
take advantageous attacking positions during dogfights and weave intelligently
to avoid being hit when under attack, this game’s enemies are tough to defeat.
In
Aquanox 2: Revelation, players will be confronted by snipers that
utilize concealed positions to accurately fire on their target from great
distances. The sniper can even turn his vehicles’ engines off so the players’
sonar system and lock system cannot detect them. The only way the player can
find them is to spot them through AquaNox’s murky water. This AI tactic can
dramatically change players’ in-game tactics, as rushing into open areas could
result in instantaneous death from a sniper hiding in the distance. In
addition, ground vehicles featured within AquaNox 2: Revelation will be
capable of digging themselves into the ground, then springing out and ambushing
the player as they creep through the vast oceans.
When
in dogfights, the AI enemies will attempt to get behind the players’ ship, and
remain there no matter how much the player tries to escape. Enemies will be
able to strafe both horizontally and vertically, roll and loop during combat and
retreat should the battle appear to be lost. Due to their adversaries’ agility,
gamers will then have to rapidly alter their playing style to combat the foes
they face.
During combat in AquaNox 2: Revelation, enemies will be able to analyze
the way the player fights, and modify their tactics accordingly. For example,
if the player is strafing continuously, the enemy will use fast weapons that
spray bullets in all directions. However, if the player is not as agile, the
enemy will shift to heavy and slower artillery.
AquaNox 2: Revelation for PC CD Rom is scheduled to launch in North America
in Q1 2003.
