WESTWOOD RELEASES BETA LINUX SERVER FOR COMMAND & CONQUER RENEGADE
Server now available from official Renegade website
LAS VEGAS, NV (Nov. 21, 2002) - Westwood Studios(tm) today announced that it has released a beta of the Linux version of its server software for Command & Conquer Renegade(tm). Renegade is published by Electronics Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) under the EA GAMES(tm) brand.
The beta Renegade Linux server offers server administrators an alternative to the Windows-based one that shipped with the retail version of the game. It will allow administrators to host games of Renegade via both local-area network and GameSpy.com's Internet match-making option.
The beta Renegade Linux server is available as a 60 MB free download on the official Renegade website at http://westwood.ea.com/games/ccuniverse/renegade/index.shtml.
Renegade is a fast-paced 3D action game set in the Command & Conquer(tm) universe. For the first time, players can experience the war between GDI and NOD up-close and personal as they fight in the structures and with the vehicles and weapons made famous in the original C&C. Renegade offers an intense multiplayer experience, "Command & Conquer Mode," where two teams of players fight to destroy each other's base.
