New Instances drive Update 3 for NCsoft’s Auto Assault
New instances will appeal to upper- and lower-level players
Auto Assault, NCsoft’s massively multiplayer vehicular combat game, is gearing up for Update 3, and with the update comes some new features, including new instanced areas.
NCsoft and NetDevil have provided GameZone.com with this look at the new zones:
New Instances Overview
With Update 3 we wanted to include a reasonably difficult high-level set of missions for those that had mastered Ground Zero and at the same time provide some support for those that were still building their characters in the lower levels. We developed a new instance for Ground Zero called “The Tower.” which features a new, powerful Justice boss and mini-boss, as well as a new set of weapons. We also designed three new lower-level instances, one for each race, each with its own unique instance zones and objectives.
The Tower
This new
high-level instance is available in Ground Zero. The Tower worked his way up in
the Justice organization the old-fashioned way – killing anyone who got in his
way. Along the way, he has made many enemies, including a Justice outcast who
will send players on a mission of vengeance against The Tower. Defeating the
Tower won’t be easy, as he’s now hidden himself away in a remote and
heavily-guarded fortress. The Tower knows that he isn’t well liked, so he’s
become quite paranoid. To defeat The Tower, players will need to go into his
fortress and defeat his most elite guards. Only a well-organized and equipped
convoy will be able to take on this challenge. Those who are able to succeed
will be able to salvage the Tower’s own gear that is amongst the most powerful
in the game.
Scav
Uprising (Human)
Wherever there
are ruins, there are Scavs – the ultimate scavengers of the wastelands. West of
the Hestia Backrange lies a decayed urban area that is infested with them. For
many years the Hestia Corporation has tolerated their presence. They haven’t
threatened Hestia, and they haven’t been worth the trouble to clear out. Now
however, the Scavs have become restless, raiding Hestia assets and attacking
employees. Hestia sent in Bruce Hamden to uncover the source of the problem. He
believes he has succeeded, but he’ll need your help. A powerful Biomek Operative
has been inciting the Scavs, hoping to open up a second front in their war
against humanity. Hestia knows that this operative’s activities must end, but
doing so will require more than just firepower.
The
Temple of La Leche Madre (Mutant)
Decades ago, four
Mutants wandered the deserts of The Changed Land, looking for a place to found a
new city. What they found was an amazing underground cavern, a potent source of
Blood that was a miracle to behold. Here they built the temple of La Leche
Madre, for there the Blood did indeed flow like milk from mother earth. Sadly,
the miracle of the Blood also proved to be the downfall of the temple. So potent
was the Blood that it nourished all manner of wildlife, most of it hostile to
The Changed themselves. Despite all their best efforts, the Mutants were unable
to rid their temple of this pestilence, and they reluctantly abandoned it. Now
it lies deserted, nearly forgotten. Cynthia Eagle hasn’t forgotten, however. She
still hopes that one day a solution will appear - to clear the temple and
restore it to its former glory. Help Cynthia uncover the secrets within these
ruins. Perhaps one day a brave Mutant can restore the temple of La Leche Madre
to its former glory.
The
Malachite Detention Center (Biomek)
Working in the
Biomek-controlled Malachite mines isn’t an easy life for a Pike. The work is
brutal, and over the years, inevitably fatal. So, when a Pike refuses to work,
the punishment must be even harsher. Biomeks send these stubborn Pikes to the
Malachite Detention Center, where the barbaric conditions would startle
outsiders, but are merely “stern” to the Biomeks. Perhaps it’s no surprise that
the Pikes would want to want to revolt. What is a surprise is that they have
indeed revolted, and even succeeded. Now, the Malachite Detention Center is in
shambles. All contact has been lost with the inside. Terminator Estlin needs a
dedicated Biomek to go inside, find out what has happened, and restore order.
These Pikes cannot get away with their revolt. Justice must be served.
