New Client for Time of Defiance - Nicely Crafted Entertainment makes major additions and improvements to Time of Defiance -

Oslo, Norway – November 12, 2004 – Nicely Crafted Entertainment is pleased to announce the release of a new client for their campaign based MMO-RTS game Time of Defiance. The additions and improvements include: new launcher, automatic updates, FTP upload synchronization, new interfaces, and some sound effect improvements.

“The new client is a huge evolutionary leap forwards for Time of Defiance, making it even easier for players to get into the game” said Toby Simpson, Nicely Crafted’s Managing Director. “The technical improvements we have made to the game for this release will lay the foundations for some hugely exciting player requested new features planned for Time of Defiance in the coming months”.

The new launcher makes it easier to connect to and play Time of Defiance. Players can also sign up now for future games and change details without going through the website. New automatic updates included in the new launcher will keep the client up-to-date so this is the last full release recurring customers will need to download. Nicely Crafted also makes it easier for customers who play on more than one PC. The new launcher, in conjunction with the customer’s own FTP server, will synchronize with the local files across different machines

Two new interface improvements are also included in this update for Time of Defiance. The new unit interface makes group commands easier with more improvements in this area coming over the next couple of months. The new construction interface for HQ’s and Vehicle Constructors are now easier to use with a new layout. Some sound effects have also been replaced and others have been improved.

This new client also makes the game available to players in various languages: German, French, Italian, and English. Players who have already purchased a box version of Time of Defiance can get the new version from their “My Empire” page. Players who have downloaded the game can add the new version from the “downloads” section of the Nicely Crafted web site.

Time of Defiance is a unique campaign based MMO-RTS where players can actually win. The game combines the intrigue of playing with hundreds of others in a 3D universe with all the elements of a traditional real time strategy game in exciting 4 week space combat campaigns. Players guide the destiny of their own empire by battling other empires for control of islands left over from a shattered planet and the vital resources they contain. Because your empire remains persistent through each game campaign you survive, treachery, propaganda, alliances, and trade are just as important in Time of Defiance as your fighting strategy.
