Firaxis Games Expands Civ Experience with Civilization III: Conquests
BEVERLY, MA - November 4, 2003 - Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR) and Firaxis Games today announced that Sid Meier's Civilization® III: Conquests has shipped to retail outlets nationwide. The second expansion pack to the highly successful Sid Meier's Civilization III, Civ® Conquests delivers nine professionally designed conquests that let Civ fans re-write history and build even more incredible empires. Also available at retail is Civilization® III: Gold Edition which contains the original Civilization III and Play the World(tm), the first expansion pack.
Civ Conquests takes players on a provocative journey through the ages as they pursue victory in nine of the most famous adventures in history. The conquests include Mesopotamia, Rise of Rome, Fall of Rome, Middle Ages, Mesoamerica, Age of Discovery, Sengoku: Sword of the Shogun, Napoleonic Europe and World War II: Pacific Battle. The conquests include new victory conditions, Wonders of the World, terrain elements, resources, city improvements and governments, offering exciting variations in the quest to rule the world. Civ Conquests also includes Play the World and features improved multiplayer support.

Over 250 changes and improvements were made to the epic game including seven new civilizations (each with unique units), two new Civilization traits (agricultural and seafaring), five Wonders of the World (Statue of Zeus, Temple of Artemis, Mausoleum of Mausollos, Knight's Templar, Secret Police HQ), two governments (feudalism and fascism), two city specialists (policeman, civil engineer), nine all-civ units, additional terrain and map features and new abilities (stealth attack, craters, collateral damage and enslavement). General game changes and adjustments (2 new difficulty levels - Demi-God and Sid), adjustable AI aggressiveness, additional resources, interface and editor enhancements round out the expansion.
Sid Meier's Civilization III: Gold Edition includes Civilization III and the updated and enhanced multiplayer expansion pack, Civilization III: Play the World. The Civilization III: Gold Edition provides more ways to win, pathways to explore, strategies to employ as well as exciting online modes of play, giving Civ fans the opportunity to enjoy unmatched strategic gameplay alone or against players from around the world.
