New Graphic/Adventure Game Proves Worthy Rival to Myst
Developer Dejavu Worlds pushes acclaimed adventure game into wider release.
Bowral, Australia (October 21, 2003) – Many consider the genre of graphic/adventure games to have begun with 1993’s critically acclaimed Myst. For die-hard adventure players looking to fully immerse themselves in a new journey, Dejavu Worlds’ announces their new game Alida. Filled with rich, detailed graphics and immersive sounds, Alida is a point-and-click adventure title covering 5 CD-ROMs through an island theme-park created by an eccentric rock band. Now the park has been abandoned for fifteen years, a member of the band is missing, and you must unravel the mystery. The island contains puzzles, hidden rooms, secret machines--even an alien presence--and is crowned by a skyscraper-size guitar.
Creator Cos Russo designed Alida to be a game for players who treasure cerebral challenges. The puzzles are complex and engaging—but fair. Clues are abundant and the puzzles are structured logically in such a way that as the player cracks them, new areas of the island are revealed. A trademark of Alida’s puzzles are those that involve sound cues. Even veteran puzzle enthusiasts admire the careful observation and thought required to complete Alida’s puzzles. Those who rejoice in a good brainteaser will especially like Alida.
Upon initial release earlier this year, players lauded Alida as a title of higher caliber than the general adventure game fare. Russo spent five years constructing the intricate world and puzzles to be a total sensory experience. Known for his artwork on recording artists’ CDs, Russo applied all his experience and craft into making Alida a tangible place that will live in players’ memories as they joyfully commit days and weeks to playing.
While comparisons to Myst are inevitable, Alida is part homage, part successor, and wholly absorbing. Building on a growing fan base, Dejavu Worlds now launches Alida into wider release.
At present Alida is only available for Macintosh OS 8, OS 9, OS 10 (OSX 10.1.2 or higher).
