JoWood’s Europa 1400 – The Guild Puts Your Life Skills to the Test
Vancouver, WA (October 17, 2002)
JoWooD Productions is proud to announce the release of their new PC
life-simulation game, Europa 1400 – The Guild, where players get the
chance to successfully build a family dynasty starting in Europe’s 15th century.
Build your career, fall in love, have a family -- a complete life is all here
for the making. Europa 1400 will be released in North America on October 30,
2002.
In Europa 1400 – The Guild, the player’s objective is to improve their
standing within their community and successfully build a family dynasty that
will last 200 years. With its non-linear game play, gamers have free reign on
how they achieve these goals and are able to tailor their experience to match
their ability by giving themselves easy or harder objectives, or to embark upon
a Free Play game
Europa 1400 – The Guild opens with players deciding which of the 12
varied careers they wish to pursue. The rate at which their career develops and
the amount of attention they give their career is then entirely the choice of
the player. Some players may look to hire a manager to handle their business
affairs, allowing them to concentrate on other aspects of their life. Others may
want to take greater control and run all aspects of their business themselves.
Beyond building a successful career, players can also increase their standing by
seeking public office. Players begin by joining at a low rank with limited
powers, but can progress through the ranks to roles as diverse as Archbishop
(where players can then perform spectacular miracles), or Treasurer (where they
can embezzle state money). Successful players can even become the sovereign,
allowing them unrivalled power and status within the game.
Once their professional life has been organized, players can turn toward love
and the romantic goal of courting, and eventually wedding, a partner. With a
wide range of gorgeous potential partners to woo, players will be spoilt for
choice. However, the higher the status of their chosen partner, the longer it
may take to win them over and the presents will need to be more expensive. After
getting married, the player can begin having children and building a strong
family unit. The children will then need to be educated and trained in suitable
professions. Eventually, after the parents die, the player will need to take on
the role of the child, allowing the family dynasty to continue.
The player’s lifetime takes place in five superbly detailed and fully 3D
European cities (from London to Madrid), which have been recreated in the year
of 1400 and provide breathtaking settings for the players’ dynasty. Each city
represents a different environment in which to prosper.
On its release, Europa 1400 – The Guild will include the following
features:
· Absorbing, detailed, and non-linear life-simulation game play
· The opportunity to create a 200-year-old family dynasty
· No two games are ever the same -- new challenges and new events every
game played
· 12 diverse occupations
· Many skills for the player’s character to develop
· 5 large and fully 3D, real-life cities to explore: London, Paris, Milan,
Madrid and Berlin
· Each city contains more than 500 fully-interacting characters
· LAN multiplayer mode for up to 8 people
