Microsoft today announced that Zoo Tycoon, the highly anticipated game where players can build their ultimate zoo, has gone gold and is expected to hit store shelves later this month. Zoo Tycoon brings a new and exciting twist to the tycoon style of simulation games, challenging players to construct a healthy and vibrant zoo while managing animal and guest happiness.

 Upon launch, Microsoft will post a new downloadable Beach Resort scenario and a new object -- an American flag -- on the official Zoo Tycoon site at http://www.microsoft.com/games/zootycoon/. 

 With more than 40 unique animals and over 175 habitat and zoo building materials, Zoo Tycoon includes an intuitive design that allows players to build, manage and maintain a thriving metropolitan zoo. Players can build an extensive menagerie, from traditional favorites such as elephants, lions and giraffes to more exotic offerings including pandas and white Siberian tigers. Players must decide how to turn a profit with their zoo -- some may choose the path of frugal management, while others may overcharge for admission and stiff the guests with an $8 soda!

Zoo Tycoon's easy-to-manage design enables players to oversee the growth of their zoos, while the interactive tutorial provides helpful assistance for players looking to enjoy the game right out of the box.
