SEGA DEVELOPING THE KING OF ROUTE 66 EXCLUSIVELY FOR PLAYSTATION 2
SAN FRANCISCO - (October 8, 2002) - SEGA(R) of America, Inc. today announced that "The King of Route 66(TM)" is currently in development exclusively for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. The game is being created by SEGA's legendary AM2 studio and is slated for release in the U.S. in March 2003.
Challenging gamers to "haul ass" across the U.S. in their own nitro-powered 18-wheeler, "The King of Route 66" is the ultimate white-knuckled road trip from Illinois to California. Players must square off against the evil Tornado Corporation and their army of goons on a quest to become the King of the Road and win the hearts of the seductive Queens of Route 66.
Loaded with grizzly outlaw truckers, fully-customizable vehicles and dozens of mini-games, "The King of Route 66" features a variety of mission-based gameplay styles, more than 40 colorful characters and massive, living levels complete with multiple ways to complete each objective.
"I've never taken a caffeine-fueled, demolition derby-style road trip across the U.S. in an 18-wheeler to win the hearts of eight beautiful women, but if I had, I bet it would be just like 'The King of Route 66,' said Mike Fischer, vice president, SEGA of America, Inc. "An over-the-top arcade-style romp through America's Heartland, 'The King of Route 66' delivers cathartic thrills and high-octane action."
