A Rollercoaster Sim That Makes Even the Purist
Squirm
Mad Data Software unveils NoLimits v1.31, a rollercoaster simulation that
relies on pure physics to thrill gamers.
Erkrath, Germany (October 7, 2003) - Take a stroll through any amusement park
and you'll find the longest lines at the rollercoaster. Towering above the
fairgrounds, the sweeping arcs and gut-wrenching curves of the coaster command
the attention and fear of all who see it. Rollercoasters have a dedicated
following--coaster clubs, conventions, and publications are numerous. Coaster
fans travel the world to sample the most popular rides. With the advent of the
personal computer, coaster freaks can now simulate the thrill and motion of
popular coasters in their den.
Rollercoaster simulations have been done before but where most have focused on
the overall feel and management of the amusement park, Mad Data's NoLimits
Rollercoaster sim focuses on the physics involved--the exhilarating inertial,
gravitational and centripetal forces that make up a white-knuckle ride.
Utilizing an impressive 3D graphics suite created by Mad Data's engineers,
NoLimits seats you in the front car as you experience the clacking ascent up the
initial hill. From there it's a mind-bending rush of turns, jolting switchbacks,
and whirling loops; a wild, bumpy ride that is unmatched by other coaster sims.
NoLimits v1.31 features a robust Track Editor to build your own rollercoasters
using computer-aided design techniques with a speedy wire-frame display. Build
your own coasters and test them repeatedly. Steel tube, inverted,
hyper-coasters, tunnels, loops, wooden coasters--the NoLimits Track Editor is
surprisingly addictive and greatly extends the playing life of the game.
NoLimits gives the enthusiast free rides on more than 40 tracks. Additionally,
the sim has proven so popular with coaster enthusiasts that there are hundreds
of custom tracks for free download available from the huge NoLimits community.
NoLimits is a pure coaster sim. You don't worry about managing the park, you
don't bother with cleanup on the merry-go-round--you worry about keeping your
lunch. "Other coaster games let you view your creation as part of the theme
park, we specialize in giving you as realistic a ride experience as possible.
Everything is focused on realism and obtaining correct physics," says NoLimits
designer Ole Lange.
How real is the sensation of a NoLimits ride? There are already several
rollercoaster companies/designer who use NoLimits to create their rollercoasters.
Among these is one of world’s most famous coaster designers, John Wardley
(designer of Nemesis and Air). "I find NoLimits helps all our development teams
understand exactly what a proposed ride will look and feel like long before any
construction work starts on-site."
Critics agree: "NoLimits will be the ultimate roller-coaster simulator for the
Windows-PC and beats everything that is comparable," says Games Domain.
According to Adrenaline Vault "NoLimits is a 3D replication of rollercoasters
from a company that strives to reproduce their exact physical dynamics."
