Yankees(r) Return to Glory According to High Heat(tm) Major League Baseball(r) 2003 Playoff Simulation

The Giants(r) Win the Pennant, but the Yankees(r) Claim the World Series(r) in Seven Games

REDWOOD CITY, CA - (October 1, 2002) - The 3DO Company (Nasdaq: THDO) today announced its High Heat video game playoff simulation results. Last year at this time, High Heat accurately predicted the Arizona Diamondbacks(tm) World Series victory over the Yankees. This year, according to the average results of 15 playoff simulations, the Yankees will return to glory. The Yankees won the World Series in 53.33% of the simulations (8 times) while the Giants won 26.67% (4 times). Not coincidentally, High Heat also predicted before the 2002 season began that the New York Yankees(r) would be named World Champions in October, defeating the San Francisco Giants(r).

In the most dramatic simulation, Jorge Posada hit a 3-run homer off of Robb Nen in the 9th inning of game 7, leading to an 8 - 6 victory. The World Series MVP was awarded to Derek Jeter (.367 Average, 9 runs scored and 9 RBI).

Unfortunately, ace pitcher Curt Schilling and the Arizona Diamondbacks were edged out of the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals, losing 8 out of the 15 simulations and failing to repeat as World Series champions.
