SPYRO THE DRAGON RETURNS TO NINTENDO'S GAME BOY® ADVANCE
Universal Interactive Has Shipped "Spyro 2: Season of Flame™" to Retailers Nationwide
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., September 30, 2002 – Universal Interactive, Inc., a studio of the Games division of Vivendi Universal Publishing, announced today that is has shipped the interactive game "Spyro 2: Season of Flame™" to retailers nationwide.
"'Spyro 2: Season of Flame' is our sequel to the best-selling Game Boy® Advance title, the 2001 release 'Spyro: Season of Ice,'" said Nicholas Longano, general manager of Universal Interactive. "The new game features two additional playable characters and a host of new challenges for Spyro who has learned to head butt, play ice hockey and fire off a mean dose of electric breath."
In "Spyro 2: Season of Flame," Spyro returns to the Dragon Realms surprised to discover that a mysterious enemy has stolen all the Fireflies—the source of dragon firepower—from the land. Now it is up to Spyro and his sidekick, Sparx, to team up with two additional playable pals, Agent 9 the Space Monkey and Sheila the Kangaroo, to rescue the Fireflies and restore flame to the Dragon Realms.
A platform game, "Spyro 2: Season of Flame" features isometric, side-scrolling and top-down levels and four playable characters. The game was developed by Digital Eclipse Software, Inc., developers of Universal Interactive's best-selling 2001 release "Spyro: Season of Ice," recognized with an "All Star" award by the Children's Software Revue.
Universal Interactive also plans to release the interactive game "Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly™" for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Nintendo GameCube™ in fourth quarter 2002.
