THQ Ships ``Red Faction'' for PC; New Features Include Full Multiplayer Support and Custom Level Editor

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif.--Sept. 24, 2001--THQ Inc. (Nasdaq:THQI) today announced that "Red Faction(TM)" has shipped for the PC.

Developed by THQ subsidiary Volition Inc., the creators of "Summoner(TM)," "Red Faction" for PC delivers the next generation of first-person action, both online and off.

For the first time ever in PC game history, Volition's revolutionary Geo-Mod(TM) engine allows players to alter and deform the game environment in real-time. This technology raises the bar for the action genre and literally opens up a new style of game where players are not limited by the game world.

"Red Faction" delivers an intense, story-driven fantasy that takes players through a number of diverse environments above and below the alien surface of Mars. Players will become immersed in a captivating rebellion against the evil Ultor Corporation. Varying types of action will have players encountering highly intelligent enemies, completing stealth-based objectives and maneuvering five fully controllable vehicles.

In addition to the robust single-player game, "Red Faction" features full multiplayer support, allowing players to compete in several modes including capture-the-flag games for up to 32 players over the Internet. The game will also ship with "RED," a custom editor that will allow players to create their own "Red Faction" levels for both single- and multiplayer action.
