FierceMobileContent Presents Cascada Mobile and Konami With Top App Award

Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. and Cascada Mobile announced today that the companies have been jointly honored with FierceMobileContent’s Top App Award. Konami’s signature game, Frogger, which includes referral distribution capabilities enabled by Cascada’s TAG(tm) service, was honored as one of the best wireless applications for 2006. FierceMobileContent is an internationally recognized email newsletter for the wireless industry, providing more than 14,000 executives with a daily briefing on the industry’s top applications, stories and analysis.

“Cascada breathed new life into an arcade classic by leveraging viral marketing,” said Brian Dolan, editor at FierceMobileContent. “Gamers simply select a command from the game's menu, enter in the recipient's information and then send an invitation. In only a few clicks, the recipient can then download the game onto their phone, which automatically receives the appropriate version for their handset model.”

“This ‘social software’ simplifies communication between gamers and in doing so, aides in the discovery process by providing our loyal fans with another simple way to tell their friends about the great mobile titles from Konami. We see viral marketing – like Cascada’s ‘refer a friend’ technology – as an increasingly important component of our mobile game distribution strategy,” said Joe Morris, vice president, Mobile Content at Konami. “Frogger was one of the first mobile games to take advantage of Cascada’s referral distribution technology, and it’s exciting to see that our innovation is paying off with recognition by FierceMobileContent.”

Cascada Mobile’s TAG service works by enabling consumers to easily refer mobile phone applications, such as games, to friends and family. TAG uses advanced business logic to deliver the appropriate application version onto the recipient’s phone in only a few clicks. Using the TAG software development kit (SDK), publishers such as Konami integrate TAG’s referral functionality directly into applications. Once a consumer purchases and downloads a TAG embedded application he can recommend the application to friends, regardless of the recipient’s wireless provider or handset type, by selecting the ‘tell-a-friend’ menu option. The TAG system notifies recommendation recipients and automatically determines the compatible application version and download location for that particular mobile device and operator. TAG uses existing carrier and publisher infrastructure, as well as open standards to ensure the entire referral process, including payment for downloads on accepted referrals, is seamless.

“We are honored to be a charter winner of the FierceMobileContent Top App Awards,” said Neil Closner, president of Cascada Mobile. “Referral distribution is the next step in the evolution of mobile content, and it’s rewarding to see that FierceMobileContent recognizes this shift and the value that we bring to the mobile market.”

The FierceMobileContent Top App awards represent best practices by established and time-tested players in the wireless content industry that are making inroads in offering mobile content to users around the world.
