SIERRA CATAPULTS OUT NEW CAESAR IV SCREENSHOTS

Sierra and Tilted Mill Entertainment today released new combat screens and information on the military functionality of their upcoming city-builder title, Caesar IV. Available for $39.99, the latest installment in the award-winning series is scheduled to hit stores Sept. 26 for PC.

Empire building involves more than constructing a few provincial backwater towns. Would-be dictators must recruit soldiers to defend their holdings against Barbarian hordes, city uprisings, and even a disgruntled Caesar. In Caesar IV, recruits immigrate to the city and are outfitted by the armory before moving into their forts where they are fed by quartermasters from the mess hall. The legions are then trained in the drill yards to build combat experience before going off to war.

Your elite selection of troops (light infantry, heavy infantry, cavalry, and archers) better be prepared because the enemy AI is adept at getting around city defenses whether it be laying siege by catapults, scaling your walls, or by directing brute force directly at the city gates. With the right know-how and proper city planning, players can create the perfect strategy with which to repel any attack, whether it comes from a foreign territory or even Caesar himself.
