About SSI
Now owned by Ubi Soft Entertainment, the SSI brand has a long-standing history in the Role-playing and Wargaming genres. In 1988 SSI released the first D&D® role-playing game on a computer, the Original Pool of Radiance, and brought the fantasy world of Dungeons & Dragons to legions of gaming fans. The 12 D&D games that followed would come to be known as "the gold box series" and would dominate the role-playing category for the 8 years that followed. For many gamers the SSI brand of role-playing games was the reason they bought a computer to get into games. Stormfront Studios, a developer with a close association to SSI's original role-playing series (Curse of the Azure Bonds(tm)), was chosen to develop this new edition of Pool of Radiance.
