SEGA’S MARIO & SONIC AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES
TAKES GOLD AT LEIPZIG GAMES CONVENTION
Winner: “Best in Show” for the Wii
The rigorous Olympic training schedule of Mario & Sonic has earned the two elite
athletes a prestigious gold medal at the GC Developers Conference in Leipzig,
Germany. Named “Best of Show” for the Wii category, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic
Games stood tall on the winner’s podium surrounded by tough competition
including Wii Fitness and Super Mario Galaxy, among many others.
Mario & Sonic could not be reached for comment but their coaches released the
following joint statement:
“The Leipzig win was huge for team Mario & Sonic. We’ve been training for months
and this was our first outing against all of the heavy-weight Wii contenders.
The global competition and judging was tough – but we brought home the gold and
have every intention of owning the podium again in the big holiday ’07 race.”
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics Games features an all-star cast of characters.
From the amazing worlds of both Mario and Sonic, players will be able to compete
as or against a range of familiar characters including Mario, Sonic, Luigi™,
Knuckles™, Yoshi®, Tails™ and more. Innovative usage of the Wii control systems
to maneuver your favorite character will allow players to race the likes of
Mario and Sonic down the 100m track, leap over the high jump or churn water in a
swimming heat, all while competing for the much sought after Olympic gold medal.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii is scheduled to burst out of the
retail starting blocks on November 13.
