Turbine Working on New Expansion for Original Asheron's Call
Asherons Call: Throne of Destiny is slated for Spring 2005 release
Turbine Entertainment, which recently acquired publishing rights to the Asheron's Call franchise (which was developed by Turbine), has announced that it will be releasing an expansion to the original AC title with the Spring 2005 release of Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny.
AC: Throne of Destiny will feature a graphical upgrade of the first-generation engine used in the game. According to information found on the official Web site, http://ac.turbinegames.com/, the expansion will key on a new storyline and a bitter struggle for power. The Viamontians, guided by their ruthless king, Varicci II, are behind the power struggle, but powerful figures from the shadows will step forward to participate in the struggle for the realm.
In addition to the graphical upgrade, the game will feature a new playable race, the Viamontians, and a new archipelago. The level cap will be raised to 261, and players will receive skill credits, extra carrying pack storage and lesser death penalties. The graphics will be upgraded to DX9 and add 5,000 repainted textures, but will be configured to continue to run on lower-end machines.
The game will feature rare items, new monsters, hundreds of new inventory items, new quests and new dungeons.
Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny is the second expansion in the series, following Dark Majesty.
