Acclaim shares new information and screenshots of their upcoming FPS Turok: Evolution

This Week: Multiplayer & Weaponry

With only three weeks away until its September 1 launch, Acclaim Entertainment gives gamers a closer, more in-depth look into some of the key elements that are poised to make Turok: Evolution the FPS blockbuster hit everyone has been waiting for. 

There are 14 gameplay modes in multiplayer. In addition to the standard fare, there's also flight, sniper match, monkey tag and last man standing, just to name a few.  Whether you take to the skies or fight on foot, multiplayer is a world filled with infinite hours of carnage, payback and the chance to reign supreme over your peers.  With up to four players on screen at once, you can bet your opponents will be talkin' smack.  Yeah, we'll see if your buddy keeps up with the momma jokes after you rip his limbs off with the Swarm Bore.

Speaking of the Swarm Bore, this weapon and the rest of Turok's arsenal are what separates Turok from the posers.  With more than 30 weapons to choose from, the scent of blood truly is in the air.  Here's a taste of some of the new weapons you'll come across.

The Swarm Bore is a modified version of the original Cerebral Bore and is one of three functions the rocket launcher performs. 

Ø      Fire five screws with mini explosives into your enemy's neck, shoulder blades and lower torso;

Ø      Watch as the explosives detonate and tear off their legs, arms and head.

Another sick weapon is the Dark Matter Cube.  This nasty little devil has two functions.  Throw it like a grenade and it will either:

Ø      Shoot out randomly placed beams of energy destroying anyone in its path;

Ø      Or suck enemies into a black hole where they'll be turned inside out.

For a more stealthy attack approach you can use the new Spider Bomb.  Here's how:

Ø      Hide;

Ø      Throw the spider;

Ø      Become the spider and creep up to your enemies;

Ø      Either detonate, gas or lure them to their demise.

So there's a little taste of the blood splattering weaponry and hours of multiplayer fun that are in store.
