Go To Great Depths To Sink Evil In Metro3D’s Sub Rebellion Coming Soon To Sony PlayStation® 2

Multi-Platform Game Developer and Publisher Teams with Irem Software Engineering To Unveil The First Submarine Action Shooter Exclusively For PlayStation 2 Fans

SAN JOSE, California (August 14, 2002) – Metro3D, Inc. today announced that it has partnered with Developer Irem Software Engineering Inc. to introduce Sub Rebellion for the Sony PlayStation® 2 game console.  This fast-paced 3-dimensional submarine exploration shooter, which was released as -U- Underwater Unit in Japan this May 2002, is slated for a U.S. release in October 2002, and features a “Teen” ESRB Rating.

“We are very excited to release a first glimpse of Sub Rebellion, one of Metro3D’s anticipated titles for 2002 supporting the ever-popular PlayStation 2 game console,” said Joseph Morici, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Metro3D.  “Irem Software Engineering is a respected Japanese developer and manufacturer in both the coin-operated and video game software industry.  Together we look forward to sharing this hot new submarine fighter with the more than 11 million PlayStation 2 owners that currently exist across the country.”

In Sub Rebellion, players are taken to 2139, a time when the earth’s tectonic plates begin to shift, producing massive seismic activity throughout the world.  As most of the worlds land sinks into the sea, civilizations change forever.  Survivors of this era adapt to the new conditions of life under and above the sea.  By 2145 two factions arise, the Meluguis Empire and the Alliance Army.  The Alliance, in a desperate attempt to turn the tides on the war deploys the experimental Chronos attack submarine.

Adrenaline-pumping action and adventure heat up as players move the Chronos sub at full speed around this post-apocalyptic underwater world.  Players explore massive levels of undersea and sea-to-surface missions using phenomenal sonar, evasion technologies and countermeasures to hunt down on-coming enemies, including subs, helicopters, and ships, as well as to track secret power-ups, ancient artifacts or buried treasures.  Staying one step ahead of the enemy is critical as the Chronos sub battles evil utilizing guided nuclear, ultrasonic and acoustic torpedoes for underwater overkill or surface-to-air missiles and short- and long-range weapons for above-the-sea mass destruction.  As a unique offering, players can upgrade their Chronos sub by finding bonus items along the way or by purchasing powerful new engines, shields, skins and torpedoes.  Among the many great new features in the game is a fantastic display of hyper-realistic water physics, lighting effects and gorgeous 3-dimensional animation.
