It’ll be Hell on Earth if the Devil Has His Way in “Diabolique: License to Sin”
First Screens and Info Inside!
Let’s get one thing straight: I don’t know much about this game and I don’t care. Why? Because it looks absolutely gorgeous.
Peruse the article for more polygon bliss.
Now that that’s out of the way, I can tell you what I know: the devil is evil and he hates everyone who lives on Earth. So what else is new? There’s a special agent called Dark Eaville, and while their identity is still somewhat of a mystery, I’m willing to bet that they are evil. (I think the name “Eaville” gave it away.)
Additional story snippets can be found at the game’s all-new Web site, www.diabolique-game.com. You’ll still be clueless (and perhaps a little confused) after reading them, but you won’t care – the graphics are too good to think about anything else. And if the developers put this much hard work into the visuals, just think how good the gameplay will be.
There’s a lot more to learn about Diabolique: License to Sin, so we took a trip down to our personal Hell on Earth (the place where we store all the old Barney games) and spoke to the game’s Project Supervisor, Grzegorz Miechowski.
We hate to admit it, but we don’t know much of anything about your new game.
Grzegorz Miechowski: Our new game, Diabolique: License to Sin, is an action game with elements of arcade, classic TPP view. It's a story about a secret agent. [An] agent you have never played.

Diabolique has stellar lighting effects.
What are the primary gameplay aspects of Diabolique: License to Sin?
GM: It's an action game, sneak-em-up mixed with heavy combat. Player needs to infiltrate enemy terrain, use his powers and gadgets. It sounds very typical, but... remember, that our hero is supernatural ;)
On Metropolis Software's Official Site, it says that the game features "Tailored suits, expensive cars, dynamic action." Could you elaborate a little more on that?
GM: Secret agents love to show that they're flush. Our hero lives High Life so he must to use expensive car and wear expensive suit!

“I want YOU…
To risk your life for this mission.”
Where have you drawn your inspiration for the Diabolique? Have other games been an influence?
GM: Mostly films and some books. Films like James Bond, Mission Impossible, and some funny films about tough guys like Starsky & Hutch, etc.
Diabolique is taking advantage of RenderWare's power, correct? If so, how is it aiding in the development of the game's physics? What cool things are being created that couldn't have been done otherwise?
GM: Yes, we're using RenderWare Physics Engine. Actually, it gives so much, that it’s not easy to point all elements. First, the game is simply much more exciting. When you shoot at the box of explosives and everything is flying around – it rocks :) But there are some even more important elements. When we use good physics engine, we have a great collision system. Based on that, we have protagonist and enemies movement. When enemies move smoothly, then it’s easier to create sophisticated AI. And AI is great in Diabolique. I love it!

Freeze! In the air! Like a man who can levitate!
We haven't seen any shots of Diabolique, so it's not easy to speculate how the final game might look. Fill in the blanks – tell us what we'll see and how pretty the game will look.
Grzegorz couldn’t comment on this one, but he tells us to look at the gorgeous screenshots and let him know what we think :)
Talk about the action and sneaking aspects of the gameplay. Individually, what do they involve? Is it akin to other action and spy/espionage games out there?
GM: It’s more about action than sneaking. I think our hero sometimes acts like James Bond and sometimes like Sam Fisher. It’s [somewhere in] between.

More of proof of Diabolique’s beauty.
A spy is just a guy with a cool occupation if he doesn't have any gadgets. What are some of the
gadgets that players will use in Diabolique?
GM: You know, the title Diabolique obligates us :) So expect some supernatural gadgets.
Roborumble, Gorky Zero, The Prince and the Coward – it's clear that Metropolis doesn't like ordinary game titles. Other than the fact that it sounds cool, is there a reason for why the name of your latest game, Diabolique, was chosen?
GM: Wow! It’s cool that the title sounds cool! :) The title was created by Bartosz Brzostek (boss of development in Metropolis Software), so I need to say ‘thank you Bartek!” As the title says – Diabolique – so expect a diabolic story.
Thank you for your time.
