SCEA Rocks the Lollapalooza Summer Tour

PlayStation Sponsorship Brings Today’s Hottest Music and Games Together at this Season’s Biggest Concert Series

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) today announces its second annual sponsorship of Lollapalooza, the nation’s leading lifestyle concert tour. The Lollapalooza tour kicks off on August 3rd in Grant Park, Chicago, and will feature an exclusive chance for consumers to experience some of SCEA’s new and soon-to-be-released games for PLAYSTATION 3, PlayStation 2 and PSP.

Featured in the PlayStation tent area during this year’s concert series, PS3 fans will have the chance to play Lair, an action-packed adventure game that allows users to combat their way through seamless air-to-ground battles on fire-breathing dragons; and Heavenly Sword, a stunning, soon to be released action adventure title that demonstrates the true visual and advanced gameplay power of PS3. For PS2 fans, Buzz! The Mega Quiz and SingStar Amped both provide the ideal pick up and play social gaming experience for consumers of all ages.

In addition, SCEA is a new sponsor of Kidzapalooza, an area where young gamers can experience a range of fun and easy to use PlayStation titles. Kidzapalooza gives children the opportunity to hone their rap skills by experiencing PaRappa The Rapper, the “original” music game that allows users to rap along with fun, catchy songs on the PSP system. The PS2 title Buzz! Jr.: Jungle Party, will also be on hand, captivating the young and old alike with more than 25 competitive mini-games that will determine truly who is the king of the jungle.

Finally, at Lollapalooza’s “Mindfield”, an area designed to enhance the experience of the concert by enticing participation in innovative and fun games, SCEA will feature the ultimate SingStar Amped and Buzz! ™ The Mega Quiz competitions on the Moto Mindfield stage. Contestants will have the opportunity to win an assortment of PlayStation prizes.

Lollapalooza, which originally launched in 1991, has showcased bands such as Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica, and Snoop Dog. This year’s line-up includes some of today’s most popular modern rock, punk and hip-hop bands such as Pearl Jam, Daft Punk, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Muse, Iggy & the Stooges, Interpol, Snow Patrol and Amy Winehouse.
