LOS ANGELES, CA -- Shout! Factory announces the release of the original soundtrack to Stubbs The Zombie, the year's most anticipated new video game from the producer of top-seller Halo and Wideload Games. All but one of the

13 tracks are familiar '50s-era pop hits, handpicked and recorded specifically for the game by alternative rockers The Flaming Lips, Cake, The Raveonettes, Death Cab For Cutie, Phantom Planet, Rogue Wave, Ben Kweller and more. Though heard throughout gameplay, these songs (with the exception of 'My Boyfriend's Back') are available exclusively on Stubbs The Zombie:

Scheduled for release by Aspyr Media just in time for Halloween, Stubbs The Zombie is a third person action game that uses an updated Halo engine to deliver a stirring take on one man¹s hunger for love, justiceš and brains.

In the game, players step into the shoes of the rebel himself; former door-to-door salesman Stubbs is now a wisecracking zombie terrorizing the ultra-modern city of Punchbowl, Pennsylvania circa 1959, using nothing but his own carcass and the weapons of his possessed enemies. The game¹s tongue-in-cheek humor, innovative combat and strong storyline keep gameplay as bizarre and unpredictable as its namesake.

Stubbs The Zombie: The Soundtrack is filled with brand new versions of songs made famous in Stubbs' own time, with the exception of Phantom Planet's zombie-inspired track 'The Living Dead,' which was written specifically for the game. From Brooklyn¹s indie-pop artist Ben Kweller¹s version of 'Lollipop,' to Danish garage rock duo The Raveonettes¹ rendition of 'My Boyfriend¹s Back,' these artists may be relatively new names on the music scene, but these ¹50s pop standards are loved the world over. In addition, alternative rock veterans The Flaming Lips put the Wayne Coyne spin on 'If I Only Had A Brain,' and Cake's 'Strangers in the Night' wouldn¹t be complete without the band's standard trumpet fare. Although other video games have inspired soundtracks of their own, Stubbs The Zombie is the first to present a complete album of original recordings as opposed to the licensed music most games employ today.
