Ubi Soft's Worldwide Release of Far Cry on the PC Prepares to Amaze in Late 2003

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - July 26th, 2002 - Ubi Soft® Entertainment, one of the world's largest video game publishers, today announced the official name of its new first-person shooter game, Far Cry(tm).  This technically advanced game emphasizes tactics and action with a spectacular use of graphical and environmental details, which will push the FPS genre to new, undiscovered levels.  Far Cry  is planned for a worldwide release on PC CD-ROM in late 2003.

In May of this year, exclusive presentations were given to the press at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. Far Cry has left significant impressions and created considerable excitement among the gaming press, with IGN.com nominating the game for awards in "Technical Excellence," "Best Action," and "Biggest Surprise."  Additionally, PC Gamer reported being "Deeply Impressed" by "a gorgeous FPS with fast-paced tactical action."

In Far Cry, players find themselves abducted and taken to a group of beautiful islands in Polynesia complete with sun, sea, sand and... sub-machineguns! The game's unlikely hero soon finds himself fighting for survival against highly trained and heavily armed opponents, while becoming ever more embroiled in a deeper conspiracy.
