GodGames Announces Release Date for Max Payne

Highly-Anticipated 3D Action PC Game Finally Goes Gold

Dallas, TX, July XX, 2001 -- High-end computer game publisher GodGames, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ: TTWO), today announced that Max Payne, the highly anticipated story-driven action PC game featuring leading-edge photo-realistic 3D graphics, has gone gold and will ship on July 26th. Developed by Remedy Entertainment and 3D Realms, Max Payne has been stirring excitement within the gaming community since its first announcement and garnered tremendous press attention, player buzz and industry accolades. "Max Payne has all the elements it takes to make it blockbuster game," said Scott Miller, CEO of 3D Realms. "Similar to Duke Dukem, Max Payne is a distinctive character that will relentlessly pull gamers into a gritty underworld of crime and deceit. Quite simply, this game raises the bar in terms of stylish gameplay and cinematic presentation, and the gripping story and compelling character weld it all together better than anything we've seen before. I really think Max Payne is one of those rare landmark games."

Storyline: A Man With Nothing to Lose: Three years ago, Max Payne, a young New York City police officer, arrives home to discover his family senselessly slaughtered in a drug related killing. With little left to live for, Max joins the DEA, buries himself in his work and takes on dangerous undercover assignments.

Fast forward to present day New York City. Assigned to bring down the Mafia drug lords, Payne is eyeball-deep working the seedy underside of the city. But before the case is solved, Payne's boss and best friend, the only one who knows his true identity and assignment, is murdered. Payne is double-crossed, framed for murder with his cover blown, and on the run from both the Mafia and the NYPD. From there, things go from bad to worse.

It is a setup that leads Max through plot-twists, twisted bad guys and to stunning revelations. It's a role players won't soon forget.

Cinematic Quality
As gamers guide Payne through the deep bowels of New York City, the storyline
unfolds in "John Woo style" cinematic detail. Bullet Time action heightens the game's intensity when players employ various special effects and techniques to bring down Max's many enemies. Max can dive horizontally into a room in slow motion, giving gamers an offensive edge, while also presenting thugs with a hard-to-hit moving target.

The 'behind-the-back' third-person camera mode adds depth and perspective as it trails behind Max Payne running from blazing guns with his long leather coat flapping. Max Payne also features close to 200 graphic novel screens that provide rich detail to the story. The presentation of these story screens includes voice-overs and sound effects.

Max Technology
Max Payne is based on Remedy Entertainment's MAX-FX Technology that provides
superior graphic rendering and groundbreaking lighting effect accuracy. MaxED, the game's level editor, provides an intuitive and easy-to-master way for players to create their own levels.
