"Combat Flight Simulator 3" Soars Into Oshkosh for EAA AirVenture 2002

Microsoft Booth to Showcase Revolutionary World War II Combat Simulator PC Game

EAA AirVenture attendees will be able to take to the virtual skies over Europe to relive the action-packed aerial dogfights of World War II when Microsoft Game Studios and “Combat Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe” fly into Oshkosh this year. Aviation enthusiasts of all ages will be able to preview the newest addition to the best-selling “Combat Flight Simulator” franchise scheduled for release this fall.

“Combat Flight Simulator 3” will be on display in Microsoft’s booth located in Exhibit Hangar B from July 23 – July 29 at the annual air show. EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is the world’s premier recreational aviation event, drawing more than 800,000 people and 12,000 airplanes annually.

Attendees will also be able to experience “Combat Flight Simulator 3” via kiosks located at several locations throughout the show including the EAA AirVenture Museum, located in the southwest corner of the event grounds and the Warbirds arena.

Microsoft continues to support EAA endeavors this year with a donation of 1000 copies of “Flight Simulator 2002” PC simulation software to the EAA educational program. , Microsoft has helped bring aviation to life for thousands nationwide by donating thousands of games from the “Flight Simulator” franchise that are now being used by schools, youth groups, Civil Air Patrol units, EAA chapters and EAA education program participants around the country.

“Combat Flight Simulator 3,” the latest installment of the “Combat Flight Simulator” franchise, allows players to select from 18 World War II aircraft, including the first jet fighters in history. The game features a revolutionary, new 3-D graphics engine that portrays the action of high-speed, low altitude aerial combat in amazing realism, empowering players to fly in a myriad of combat missions focused on air superiority, close air support and tactical bombing.

“Combat Flight Simulator 3” product manager Darryl Saunders and product designer Rob Brown will be on-hand to showcase the game’s amazing advancements and stunning graphics to the press. “Flight Simulator” business development manager Bruce Williams will also discuss the role of the “Flight Simulator” franchise at Oshkosh.

“Flight Simulator” business development manager Bruce Williams will show flight instructors, pilots and students how to use Microsoft “Flight Simulator 2002” as a complement to formal flight instruction. This forum is part of an FAA approved flight instructor revalidation clinic sponsored by the National Association of Flight Instructors.
