NVIDIA Technologies Bring Traveling Wright Brothers Exhibit to Life

NVIDIA-powered PCs Power Experimental Aircraft Association's "Countdown to Kitty Hawk" and Microsoft(r) Flight Simulator Virtual Wright Flyer Cradles

SANTA CLARA, CA AND DEARBORN, MI (JUNE 13, 2003) -- NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, announced today that it is a technology sponsor of Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA's) "Countdown to Kitty Hawk presented by Ford Motor Company" enabling thousands of people of all ages to virtually pilot historic aircraft. Billed as the most elaborate celebration of aviation in the past 100 years, NVIDIA has provided 20 high-end desktop PCs equipped with NVIDIA(r) GeForce(tm) 4 graphics and NVIDIA nForce(tm)2 platform processors that allow attendees to fly virtual the aircraft within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight including a 1903 Wright Flyer, Charles Lindbergh's Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis, Douglas DC3, 747, and a Piper J-3C-65 "Cub" inside the 24,000-square-foot touring pavilion.

As part of the interactive "Countdown to Kitty Hawk" exhibits, NVIDIA-powered PCs are also being used for specially-designed 1903 Wright Flyer virtual cradles running the soon-to-be-released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight software. The cradles, which will be part of the touring pavilion, allow would-be pilots to operate the virtual aircraft from a horizontal hip cradle, using hand levers and a shifting hip mechanism to control virtual takeoffs and landings in front of a giant panoramic projection screen. NVIDIA's GeForce4 graphics processing units (GPUs) were selected for the cradles for their ability to deliver an ideal blend of performance and features for bringing the historic flyer to life.
