Raise Your Own Chocobo in Final Fantasy XI

The Final Fantasy XI development team has finally addressed everyone’s requests for a system to raise their own personal Chocobos. As announced at the FINAL FANTASY XI Fan Festival 2006 in Santa Monica, this new feature will be introduced in the next version update!

Many of you are probably wondering exactly what can be done with this new feature, so below we have provided a general outline of the main elements of Chocobo raising .

Raise Your Very Own Chocobo!

Raising a Chocobo requires patient effort every day for a period of roughly one to three months. Not much time is required per day, however—much like gardening, even busy players can enjoy Chocobo raising!

Chocobos may differ in appearance and ability depending on how they are raised. So don’t be afraid to try new things, and raise a Chocobo that fits your own personal style!

• The Egg Comes First
  Your first step is to acquire a Chocobo egg. Each egg is encoded with its own specific genetic information, and some players may come across an extremely rare variety…
• The Chocobo Stables’ Role
  Of course, you can’t raise a Chocobo in your Mog House (the moogles claim that they simply couldn’t put up with the stench and the mess). However, someone must take care of the Chocobo while you are away, so you must work together with the Chocobo stable employees in order to properly care for your Chocobo.
• Caring For Your Chocobo
  Chocobos are very delicate creatures. The love and care you give your Chocobo will have a major effect on its development. You should feed your Chocobo when it is hungry, and spend time with it when it is lonely.
• Creating a New Life
  Match up your Chocobo with another player’s Chocobo after they have reached a certain age, and you could end up with a new egg! The chick may look quite different from its parents…

I can see a Chocobo on my screen right now, growing rapidly from day to day. It seems we can finally fulfill the promises we made to everyone about this new feature!
