E3, Los Angeles

Tecmo announced three new titles for release this holiday season at a press conference held at E3 in the Los Angeles Convention Center. Among the much-appreciated gratuitous use of scantily-clad women and guitar-playing Japanese game developers, Rygar: The Legendary Adventure, DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball, and Ninja Gaiden were announced as Tecmo's leading titles in development.

The classic grappling chain-slinging hero Rygar gets a modern-day makeover on the Playstation 2 in Rygar: The Legendary Adventure. Rygar looks to provide hours of slicing and dicing against a multitude of alien enemies, creepy-crawlies, and enormous bosses.

The teaser (and I mean teaser) for DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball was shown amidst cackles, cat calls, and chuckles. The Xbox title features the catty femmes from Tecmo's million copy-selling DOA3 playing Beach Volleyball in a tropical environment. One highlight for the more desperate: The more money you earn by winning, the skimpier the swimsuit you can outfit the already near-nude ladies in. Truly a sign of things to come.

The third title announced, also for the Xbox, is the highly anticipated Ninja Gaiden. It is a 'simple' story of one ninja versus a multitude of enemies, defeating opponents by mercilessly hacking, slashing, and slicing.

Tecmo also took time to announce that the DOA fighting franchise and Final Frame, their latest horror-genre thriller, will be made into movies with DOA being released in 2004, and no release date yet for the Dreamworks produced Final Frame.
