Midway: Roadrunner Recording Act Dry Kill Logic Records All-New Millennium Rendition of ‘Take Me Out To The Ball Game’

Hard-Core Rockers’ Heavy Metal Take on Classic Baseball Anthem Used for Midway Sports’ All-New MLB SlugFest 20-03 Videogame

CHICAGO – May 20, 2002 – Midway Sports™, the sports brand of leading software industry publisher and developer Midway Games Inc. (NYSE: MWY), announced today that Roadrunner Records recording act, Dry Kill Logic, has recorded a “new millennium” rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" – titled “Riot at the Bat Rack” – for the adrenaline-style console baseball videogame, MLB™ SlugFest® 20-03. MLB SlugFest 20-03 is currently in development and scheduled to ship this summer 2002 for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube™, with the Game Boy® Advance version to follow in fall 2002.

“Since we are redefining the baseball videogame category with MLB SlugFest 20-03’s unique style, we thought it was only fitting to record an all-new, hard-rockin’ version of ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ to give the game an even more aggressive attitude,” said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing, Midway.

Officially licensed by MLB Properties and MLBPA, MLB SlugFest 20-03 will change the way people think about America’s national pastime. Featuring real Major League Baseball players, teams and stadiums, MLB SlugFest 20-03 is the first and only baseball videogame to deliver over-the-top, adrenaline-style gameplay action. Developed by the creators of the NFL® Blitz® series, MLB SlugFest 20-03 features enormous, muscle-bound athletes who take to the field and perform incredible defensive plays, including acrobatic, diving catches and turbo-powered throws. While at the plate, gamers can dig in and unleash a mammoth blast clear out of the park. The animations are so precise, gamers can view players on the field chewing gum, talking to one another and cheering for their teammates.

To add even more authentic attributes to the ferocious gameplay of MLB SlugFest 20-03, Texas Rangers® shortstop and perennial MLB All-Star, Alex Rodriguez (a.k.a. A-Rod), will appear on the package cover and in other advertising materials.

“Take Me Out to the Ball Game” was originally written in 1908 by songwriter Jack Norworth and composer Albert Von Tilzer. The song quickly became a favorite at baseball stadiums all over the United States, helping fans rally their teams by singing together – usually during the “seventh inning stretch.”

Formed in Westchester, NY, Dry Kill Logic owes much of its success to the musical influences of the gods of heavy metal – Pantera, Tool, King Diamond, Sepultura and Fear Factory. Released in 1998, the band’s first full-length recording was the self-released album Elemental Evil, which quickly became a force to be reckoned with, landing the band opening spots for the likes of Coal Chamber, Incubus, Anthrax, System of a Down and the Misfits. After regrouping two years later, Dry Kill Logic was signed to Roadrunner Records in spring of 2000 and soon after wrote and recorded their latest release, The Darker Side of Nonsense on Roadrunner Records.
