TALDREN PREPARES FOR INDUSTRY UNVEILING OF ACTIVISION’S STAR TREK STARFLEET COMMAND® III AT E3

COSTA MESA, CA – MAY 20, 2002 – Attendees of this year’s E3 will get the opportunity to explore Taldren’s latest addition to the popular Starfleet Command franchise, Star Trek Starfleet Command III. Published by Activision (Nasdaq: ATVI), the game is the first in the series to take place in the Star Trek: The Next Generation® timeline and combines the deep tactical combat of the previous titles with a streamlined interface, an enhanced multiplayer campaign and improved graphics. Star Trek Starfleet Command III for the PC will be on display in the Activision booth #1224 in the South Hall, May 22 – 24 at the LA convention Center.

“One of the guiding principles behind Star Trek Starfleet Command III’s design is that even though this is a deep starship combat sim, you don’t need to be a Starfleet Academy graduate to operate the game or understand its interface,” says Erik Bethke, CEO and co-founder of Taldren, Inc. “Fans of the earlier games will be right at home and new users will be clashing with other starships and conquering quadrants in no time.”

A game of tactical starship combat, Star Trek Starfleet Command III offers players virtually total control of all ship’s systems and crew members. As in the movies and television series, players can balance resources between different ship’s systems such as shields and weapons and employ cloaking, tractor beams and shuttles to optimize their tactical opportunities. Players can also customize their ship with a myriad of weapons, shields, sensors and other systems and recruit new crew members with enhanced skills and abilities. Star Trek Starfleet Command III also includes an enhanced version of the Dynaverse 3 multiplayer environment. This persistent online component will feature improved AI and a new system that allows players to join the same fleet, travel together across the map and battle alongside one another in defense of their race's homeland.
