With FFEdit, the user may customize missions and campaigns; create custom characters, enemies, and levels; and integrate new objects, sounds, and visual effects. Irrational has also provided documentation that explains the customization processes in detail. They have gone to great lengths to see that the community can customize "Freedom Force" in a user-friendly environment.

This user-friendly editing environment provides easy customization tools for "Freedom Force." From the level designs to the heroes that play in them, users may now exercise complete control over their mod. It incorporates a modified game engine that allows drag-and-drop scenery placement, as well as documentation that includes detailed information on art processes, Python scripting (for mission/campaign editing), and the FFEdit functions themselves.
