BUFFY IS BACK...AND SHE’S BROUGHT HER FRIENDS

Vivendi Universal Games Announces Development of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds

LOS ANGELES, CA - (May 8, 2003) - Vivendi Universal Games announced today the development of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube™. Buffy the Vampire Slayer™: Chaos Bleeds, developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software and licensed by Fox Interactive, is a third-person fighting adventure game based on the successful long running television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Just like the show, the adventure takes place at ground zero for all things vampire – Sunnydale, California. Developed as a ‘lost episode’ from season five of the television show, Chaos Bleeds involves an unraveling tale in which a dimensional bleed has been enabled by Pure Evil to consume humanity once and for all. It’s up to Buffy and her friends to stop it all from happening…again.

Aiming to push boundaries in the area of 3D games with a strong story/character foundation, Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds will be an in-depth, action thriller. The player will battle through a myriad of locations in Sunnydale and other locations inspired by the television series. In addition to playing as Buffy, gamers will also be able to choose to play as one of five other characters from the TV show – Faith, Willow, Xander, Spike and Sid the Dummy. Each of the five playable characters will have its own set of abilities and powers. The game features the actual likenesses of show cast members as well as a number of cast member voiceovers.

“Over the course of seven years, the Buffy series has developed millions of ardent fans – many of whom are console gamers,” said Michael Pole, SVP & General Manager of VU Games. “Fans of the show will embrace being able to play the part of their favorite Buffy characters in a fully interactive gaming experience.”

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds will be available in August 2003 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube for a suggested retail price of $49.99 with an expected ESRB “Teen” rating.
